Leather care – clean, care for, seal

The complete care system for Nappa, open-pored, pigmented, vegan leather and Alcantara

Automotive leather care for every type of leather

For Nappa, open-pored, pigmented, vegan leather and Alcantara

Your leather interior is one of the most personal features of your vehicle – and one of the most heavily used. Daily use, UV radiation, body oils and colour transfer from clothing wear down even the finest types of leather over time. Without proper care, leather dries out, cracks and loses its colour and suppleness.

Swissvax offers a complete leather care system for all interior materials: from smooth Nappa and open-pored leather to pigmented surfaces, vegan leather and Alcantara. All formulations are pH-neutral, silicone-free and leave no residue.

The result: an interior that stays soft, supple and protected – whether your vehicle is driven daily or reserved for special occasions.

New smooth leather – cleaning and sealing

Modern automotive leathers are factory-coated and therefore more resistant to scratches and stains. Easy-care doesn't mean maintenance-free, however – dirt builds up on modern surfaces too.

Here is how to clean new smooth leather correctly:

1. Clean smooth leather surfaces with Leather Cleaner and the Cleaning Brush. For perforated surfaces (ventilated seats) use the Sponge Applicator Cube to avoid pressing liquid into the perforations.

2. Remove foam and loosened dirt with the Detail Towel or Micro-Wash. Repeat until the towel stays clean.

3. Work in small sections so the cleaning fluid does not dry out.

New leather does not yet need a care milk – the tanning process has nourished it sufficiently. It should, however, be protected from the start with Leather Glaze against abrasion and colour transfer from jeans and other clothing. Leather Glaze is colourless, non-glossy and applied with a fine-pored sponge in circular motion from seam to seam.

Do not use on: buffalo or suede leather. Do not treat aniline leather (open-pored leather) with Leather Cleaner Forte and/or a brush.

Open-pored or pigmented leather? Apply a drop of water to a concealed spot and spread gently. If the water soaks in, you are dealing with open-pored leather.

Used smooth leather – cleaning, care and conditioning

Used smooth leather – whether in a new car or in youngtimers and classics – needs not only cleaning but also care and nutrients.

1. Clean with Leather Cleaner and the cleaning brush (for perforated leather: sponge applicator).

2. Remove foam and dirt with Detail Towel or Micro-Wash.

3. Work in small sections so the fluid does not dry out.

4. After the surface has fully dried, apply Leather Milk with the Cotton Applicator. Use sparingly and let it soak in. If the leather still feels dry, repeat the process.

5. Optional: finish with Leather Wax as a final impregnation – the pure synthetic fat penetrates deep into the leather, keeps it supple and forms a water-repellent protective layer against moisture and mildew. Especially recommended for heavily used leather and convertible interiors.

Do not use on: buffalo or suede leather. Do not treat aniline leather with Leather Cleaner Forte and/or a brush.

Specialist solutions for leather problems

Sealing, tinting, gloss correction and softening – for the most common leather issues

Leather Glaze – sealant against abrasion and jeans dye transfer

New leather does not yet need a care milk, but it needs protection from abrasion and colour transfer from the start. Leather Glaze is colourless, non-glossy and applied with a fine-pored sponge in circular motion from seam to seam. Dries in a few minutes.

Leather Healer – leather tinting for wear marks

Seat bolsters, steering wheels, gear knobs and armrests show colour abrasion and scratches over time. Leather Healer evens out these wear marks – apply with a fine sponge in circular motion from seam to seam. Dries in a few minutes and does not transfer colour.

Gloss Corrector – gloss correction for smooth leather

Heavily used leather surfaces such as the steering wheel, armrests and gear knob start to develop a shine over time. Gloss Corrector Matt restores the more matte original appearance. Multiple passes increase the effect.

For youngtimers and classics with originally glossy leather: Gloss Corrector Shiny brings too-matte spots back to match the sheen of the rest of the interior.

Leather Softener – care for hardened leather

Lack of care and heat are the main causes of hardened leather. Leather Softener returns oils and minerals to the leather that have been drawn out by sunlight and air.

Apply with the sponge applicator and allow to soak in. Repeat the treatment as needed, so the liquid gradually penetrates into the deeper layers of leather.

Vegan leather – gentle, solvent-free cleaning

Vegan leather increasingly looks and feels like real leather, but has different material properties. Conventional leather cleaners can attack the synthetic surface.

1. Cleaning with Vegan Leather Cleaner – gentle, effective and solvent-free.

2. Additionally seal light-coloured vegan leather with Leather Glaze against colour transfer from jeans and clothing.

Alcantara – cleaning, de-pilling and sealing correctly

Alcantara combines the feel of suede with high durability, but needs specialist care. Conventional textile cleaners can damage the delicate microfibre structure.

Cleaning: vacuum the surface, then spray Alcanta Cleaner onto a sponge applicator or directly onto the surface. Clean with light dabbing pressure. Dab dry with Micro-Wash. Never rub! Never clean with heat.

Pilling: the typical little nodules in wear areas can be removed with the Leather Grinding Pad, as long as the pilling is not too advanced.

Sealing: after cleaning and drying, seal with Lotos Protectant – for long-lasting protection against new soiling.
